I believe homeowners can get value without overspending, and I wanted to serve my community with honest work and quality materials for a fair price. So, I decided to start Greener Roofing & Solar. My mission is to have a value-driven approach rather than a profitable approach. I do not believe in high-pressure closing tactics and price exaggerations, and I do not believe in sacrificing a client's comfort and safety for a few extra dollars in our pocket. We are local roofers without high-pressure sales pitches.

I wanted to create a company where our customers and our employees are treated like extensions of our family. A place where our employees feel valued and enjoy the work they do. We strive to ensure our employees have the best training, tools, and support to serve our customers best. We endeavor to be a trusted source of information homeowners can rely on, even if they choose not to do business with us.

Why choose the Greener way? Because we are committed to doing right by you and by the community. We will work one-on-one with you so you can feel confident in knowing that you are getting the best quality roofing and solar services for an honest price. Still not sure "why?" Humble Beginnings

I come from very humble beginnings. My parents, my older brother Carlos, and I fled my native Nicaragua in the 1980s amid a civil war that was ravaging the country. I was only a year and a half when we arrived in the United States.  I credit Carlos with playing the role of babysitter quite admirably. Thanks for looking after me, bro!

Strong Values

My parents taught me early on the value of money, the importance of savings, and the meaning of hard work. Not surprisingly, my mom’s favorite saying has always been, “A penny saved is a penny earned.” I witnessed the extraordinary effort it took for her to raise two boys, work multiple jobs, and maintain a household. She instilled in me a strong work ethic and a firm commitment to my customers that I leverage every day on the job.

Start of My Roofing Journey

You know how they say cats have nine lives? Well, the day I told my mom I was going into the roofing industry, I felt like a cat who’d witnessed one of those lives being taken from him! It didn’t go down very well.

Her disapproval stemmed from her belief that the only jobs worth pursuing are those in an air-conditioned office consisting of various offices and cubicles. Like most Hispanic parents, my mother had high hopes that I would become a doctor, lawyer, or engineer – and anything less was unacceptable in her eyes.

To be honest, my mother was far from the only person who questioned whether my entering an industry typically perceived as “blue collar” was a sound move. Most of my friends were similarly surprised, asking me whether I was hard-up for cash and in desperate need of a job. And to top it off, I myself harbored serious doubts: Would this industry really provide a path for my professional growth?

It's Not "Just a Roof"

Around the same time, I stumbled upon a clip of Mike Rowe, host of the series Dirty Jobs. This video was a godsend, changing my perspective entirely on the role that passion ought to play in one’s career.

We are taught early in life that if we don’t follow our passions – if we don’t absolutely love what we do – success will elude us. But, as Mike Rowe points out, and as evidenced by countless aspiring singers who are passionate about singing but couldn’t hold a note if their lives depended on it, that just isn’t true.

Mike’s advice really stuck with me: Don’t follow your passion. Instead, master a skill and bring your passion with you. This paradigm shift changed the way I approach work. I took it upon myself to learn everything I could about roofing and became one of its loudest and proudest advocates. I felt a deep affinity with the hard-working roofers who feel they have no voice of their own.

People ask me how I can be so passionate about roofing. “It’s just a roof!” they exclaim. Well, to me, it’s not just a roof. It’s not only about offering a service or product. It’s not just a means to an end.

Greener Today

It’s about the journey, not the destination. It’s about knowing that, at the end of the day, I’ve played a role in improving my customers’ lives. Entering this wonderful industry has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
